Oklahoma City Course Location

The Oklahoma City races are held at a great location - Kid's Lake Park. This park has lots of pavement, some rolling terrain, extremely fast, and is in great shape. The park is located at the east side of the Hefner Parkway and Wilshire Ave in NW Oklahoma City. The easiest way to get there is to exit from the Hefner Parkway at Britton Road, go east to May Avenue (1/2 mile), south on May to Wishire (1 mile), go west until the road ends (1 mile). There is plenty of parking for the venue.

Start Time and Duration

B Race - Cats 4/5 - 1:00 -- 40 minutes
Masters 35+/Juniors - 1:01 -- 40 minutes
All Women - 1:02 -- 40 minutes
Open (A Race) - 2:00 pm -- 60 minutes

* Mountain Bikes will be allowed in any race depending on the qualifications and license of the racer.
* Due to low turnout of Master's races the past few years we will only have one category. If over 20 racers want to participate at the first race in Master categories we will reconsider using age separation based on 35+, 40+, and 50+.
* Racers in the B race may participate in more than one category based on paying appropriate entry fees per category.
* Racers with a one day license must participate in the B race.

Registration

Opens at noon each day and closes 15 minutes before each race. You must have a valid USCF or NORBA license to compete. One day licenses will be available for an extra fee.
Fees: Entry fees for the series races will be $25 per race and $10 for each additional category a racer can "legally" participate in.

Point/Prizes

Points will be awarded to all riders in each group at each Oklahoma City race. All races will be counted. Points will be awarded according to USCF Rule 4C3.

Total prize list for the Oklahoma City Series will be based on 100% return to the racers with a minimum $1000. The prize list is simply all entry fees for the four races minus associated costs to put on the races. The cash prizes per race category are determined on a percentage basis where the total number of racers per category is divided by the total number of racers is that categories slice of the prize list. Each category then receives that percentage of the prize list to be awarded typically at least 3 deep.

Additionally, each race will have daily payouts under the following conditions:

  • If the field for any category is greater than 10 then 1st place will receive $50.
  • For fields larger than 15 for any category then 1st gets $50, 2nd get $35, and 3rd get $15.

Notes

I wanted to reiterate some of the rules changes implemented by our licensing body before last season regarding cyclocross races. The USCF drastically modified cyclocross rules in order to meet UCI requirements. However, USCF clarified that the UCI rules are only required for races permitted under the UCI. So, mountain bikes will be allowed in all categories. Most of the changes to meet UCI course requirements will be used in all the cyclocross races. These changes require several modifications to the way that races will be conducted. First, the maximum number of obstacles requiring riders to dismount allowed on any course will be 4. Second, only two of those obstacles can be manmade obstacles. Third, the course must be at least 3 meters wide at all points. Due to the clarifications made by USCF be prepared for the fact that there may be a few extra barricades in the Oklahoma City races simply to make the things a bit more challenging.

As in the past we will have two races each Sunday. To compete in the open event you must have a current USCF racing license. The first race (1:00 pm) will include separate categories for Master's men (35+), women, junior men, category 4 and 5 (grouped together). All racer's must have a current USCF or NORBA license. Any person with a one-day license must compete in the category 4/5 race.

The only requirement for participation in the series is that you must participate in the final race on January 6, 2008, to be awarded any prize for the Oklahoma City races.
